Second Day Lesson

All week, I am assessing each child to see where they stand on their alphabet, numbers, math terms (sorting, pattern, count, etc) writing, days, months, season, etc. It takes a while!!! After I get a few children assessed and we have played in the room, then we have our lesson time.

Today we discussed school rules. We read the book DAVID GOES TO SCHOOL. Wow! These kids love a book read to them and their minds soak every bit of it up!! After we finished reading the book, we made up our own classroom rules and signed the rules as a promise to follow them. We decided that we are not going to be like David was in the beginning of the book! David seemed to have disobeyed every rule there could've been! So your child may say at home that s/he does not want to be "A David" [as I heard them discuss at lunch ;) ]

Side note.... the kids begged me to read this story again... and so I did!

During afternoon reading time, we read TIMOTHY GOES TO SCHOOL. Cool, right?! One book about going to school, but one about a David and another about a Timothy. Or maybe I'm just a nerd and the only one that thought that was cool. HAHA ;)

After we read it, we compared the two books. Definitely some differences. This book focuses on a little raccoon trying to be liked by everyone. We discussed that we are all special and different, and not to make fun or talk badly about those who are different.
