Salt Tray A and Smell Test

So I forgot to take pictures of everyone doing their letter A and had a helper taking pictures of the smell test. So the pictures are the best but oh well. :) We wrote the letter A in dyed salt.  Later we had smell tests because we discussed the sense of smell. Each child was blindfolded and had different foods in a cup. We had apples, oranges, lemons, garlic, salsa, pickles, and coffee. Some guessed right and some were waaaay off. My favorite had to be that one student said the pickles smelled like a candle. Hahahaha!!!!

Glamorous ... Stunning

Need I say more. lol

The Listening Walk

Today we are discussing the sense of hearing. We read the books The Listening Walk and Too Much Noise. We had our nature walk through the trails and to the duck pond. We heard birds, trucks, cars, footsteps, lawn mowers, cranes, and even an air conditioner.

My first attempt of walking and taking our pic. :/
Not so good...
Ah. That's a little better.
Listening to the birds

We got to Hear and Watch the crane move something to the roof!

This was suppose to be just for beauty, but I captured my finger. Oops

We heard something moving, it was a duck!

We heard them cutting grass.

Hilarious. We walk by the house. We think we hear something. Spooky!!
Turns out they have class in here now!

We decided to try our sense of smell out & smelled some of OUR plants that have actually made it.

Blindfold Take 2

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....the kids LOVED being blindfolded and trying to walk around. So they asked if we could do it again this afternoon (Tuesday late afternoon) and so we did. Real quickly with the kids we had left and the ones that wanted to. Here are some pics...

Playdoh A & Sight

This morning we discussed letter A and then made the letter with playdoh.

We discussed the sense of SIGHT today. We tried walking around the classroom covering our eyes. It was SO HARD. I blindfolded each child also, but had to follow that child around to ensure no bumps and bruises...so I don't have pictures of that. Hands were easier to let them "roam free" because they could easily take down their hands!
