Straw, Sticks or Bricks

We are learning about buildings for our new unit. We began the building unit by discussing the materials that used for making buildings. What better way than The Three Little Pigs for the reference! Our question of the day asked what material would they want for their house.

We made homes from sticks (Popsicle sticks) and brick/blocks (linking cubes)

We also learned that buildings can be called one story, two story, three story, etc. depending on how many floors the building has. Kayla informed us that when buildings are that tall, we don't need regular steps...we can have "The moving steps like at her dad's hotel." (escalators) Which then are lesson turned to escalators and elevators in tall "city buildings." :P

In library, we learned even more about buildings! We even built and painted our own home!
