Each Monday we begin our letter of the week and we use a letter sheet to learn the formation. This makes it easier for us to form letters from play-dough, paint, in sand or salt, or to use our magical wands on the smart board. This week is the letter Rr.
We had some fun Mighty Minutes. We had "Clap the Missing Word". We sang Farmer in the Dell and clapped every time we were suppose to say "dell."
Mighty Minute "Going on a Journey" This is about pantomiming an adventure story of visiting school friends far, far away.
Mighty Minute "My Body Jumps". The objective of this M.M. is to explore dance and movement concepts. We had a lot of fun jumping, wiggling, crawling, and slithering.
In today's lesson we discussed buildings that were near our school. It is amazing how much children are aware of surroundings and remember. We couldn't go outside to look because of the rain, so I asked them if they remembered any buildings they see when they are outside on the playground. I got lots of good answers.
We also talked about compound words today. Now, this concept is super, duper hard for K4...or so I thought. After using the word "football" as the example and a brief explanation, I was rather shocked to have a few ask if butterfly, bumble bee and soccer ball were compound words. I would say that's pretty awesome for some K4 students!!!!
Sorry, but here was Friday's question of the day...
