Dr. Green-Burns Visit

I asked Dr. Green-Burns if he could come by the Campus School to show off his bows. What a perfect learning lesson before Thanksgiving. We just "so happened" to be pilgrim and indians in our Thanksgiving Program. A HUGE thank-you goes to Dr. Green-Burns for coming and spending time with our little ones! They really enjoyed it.

Here is a little information from Dr. Green-Burns about the bow and arrow:

"The bow and arrow that I demonstrated for the children was actually made by Officer Howard Rhodes of the UWA police force. It was made as the Native Americans made them for centuries. The bow had a water snake skin on it. The children loved touching it. The arrow was made of cane and the fletches (feathers) were found by Officer Rhodes and cut to shape and then tied onto the arrow. The Native Americans did not have glue! The string was handmade. The bow was given to my son by Officer Rhodes, and it is an example of a child’s bow. The Native American boys began young." -Dr. Green-Burns
